7th July 2017 saw the Grand Opening of KEN Gallery at Menara KEN TTDI, another new art space in Kuala Lumpur. The reception started at 6pm and the event welcomed almost 400 guests. Dato’ Kelvin Tan, Chairman of TSH Resources Berhad, Datuk Lim Soon Foo, Director of Daya Group, Tan Sri Teo Chiang Hong, Director of Bandar Utama Development SB, Ms. Au Foong Yee, Managing Director of The Edge and Datuk Lim Theam Siang, Group CEO of Daya Group are some of the VIPs who attended the event. The event started with the speech of KEN Holdings Berhad’s (KEN) Group Managing Director, Mr. Sam CS Tan and thereafter the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The founder of KEN Gallery is the Group Executive Chairman of KEN, Dato’ Kenny Tan. At the heart of KEN is a commitment to nation building. KEN believes that art and culture is food to the soul. KEN believes in the importance of understanding and elevating culture in the society and with that belief, Dato’ Kenny has set out many years ago to incorporate within this building, KEN GALLERY.
KEN Gallery is a 20,000 square feet art space, which is divided into the Main Hall, Hall 1, Hall 2 & Hall 3, located at Level M of Menara KEN TTDI. The Main Hall will house the Kenny Tan Collection, with the first exhibition being: Malaysian Artists Volume 1. This Collection will showcase over 100 pieces of Malaysian Artists’ works. Apart from that, there is also The Trail, which showcases exquisite fine porcelain antiques. Lastly, there is the Oriental section, made to resemble a living room with antique furniture and walls of brush paintings. It will be on permanent display until the next volume is ready to be shown.
KEN also supported a very renowned Malaysian Wildlife Artist, Teh Yew Kiang, on his first solo exhibition and another very renowned artist from China, Duxi, whose fantasy art pieces brings our imagination to another world. Both their solo exhibitions were held in the month of July.
Dato’ Kenny Tan hopes that by adding a quality space for arts in Malaysia, it will be able to stimulate interest of young and old and many generations to come.
